Overview

The Clinton Foundation is seeking a On-Call Steward which is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of all dishes, and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation.  On-Call Steward position is responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and all storage areas; specifically for cleaning all equipment, utensils, and the physical work area. He/she is also responsible for assisting with proper food storage and rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains cleanliness and proper storage of all dishes and other utensils. Ensures that all cleaning materials are properly stored; Help maintain a clean kitchen at all times.
  • Assists with food storage and rotation.
  • Complies with all policies and standards/procedures applicable to the position, including attendance, time, quality control, and other standards.
  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwashers or by hand.
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition. Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.
  • Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
  • Sweep or scrub floors, clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
  • Stock supplies, such as food, in serving stations, refrigerators, store supplies or goods in kitchens or storage areas.
  • Receive and store supplies or goods in kitchens or storage areas.
  • Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies.
  • Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks, move equipment, supplies or food to required locations.
  • Assists Line Cooks when needed with line prep (slicing meats, building food items, punching fries, etc…) and also helps on hot line when restaurant is busy.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 year steward experience.
  • Ability to work independently and to multi-task and to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Forty Two functions seven days per week, and more than twelve hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times. Must be willing to work event-based hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of heavy (> 20 Lbs) objects, bending, pulling, collating/filing, and occasional lifting, carrying, and/or moving boxes, files, etc., some of which could be heavy (>20 Lbs) or require the use of carts.
  • Able to withstand hot temperatures for long periods of time while operating standard cooking equipment as designated by the station. Ability to move about facility, stand for extended periods of time, and able to bend and stoop.
  • Ability to carry 8-10 meals on a tray at any given time.
  • Will help line cooks in basic prep for kitchen as needed, also will help line cooks when restaurant is busy.
