The Clinton Climate Initiative’s islands energy work started in 2012 and works with island nations to accelerate their transition to renewable energy through national strategic planning, project implementation, and local capacity building. The purpose of this position is to assist governments, utilities, and community and industry partners in the Caribbean to develop renewable energy and energy efficiency projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and foster economic development by replacing fossil fuels affordable clean energy and helping build more resilient economies and societies.
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for working with 2-4 partner governments who have expressed a desire for an energy transition to: i) set a vision for energy transition in Caribbean nations and engage stakeholders; ii) perform analysis to assess the opportunity pathways towards energy transition; iii) assist technical studies, development and preparation of energy projects, (iv) execute projects by developing procurement materials and identifying potential development partners and sources of finance for these projects; (v) ensure proper operations and maintenance of projects; and (vi) report metrics and report results internally.
The employee in this position will act as a representative for the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI). The incumbent interacts with external parties at all levels, including senior government officials, C-level executives, and senior leaders of NGOs and academia to advance significant clean energy projects and helps secure project financing for work which aims to make a difference in energy transition in the Caribbean. The role requires traveling internationally approximately 25% of time. The incumbent collaborates closely with other Clinton Foundation programs, such as the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), to advance the impact of CCI. Internally, the incumbent reports directly to the Clinton Climate Initiative CEO. The Senior Project Manager will primarily contribute to the strategic energy planning and projects goals of CCI.
